so, despite my hesitance.. i have finally got a cloud key from unifi. this breaks a 3 year streak of running the controller in a VM.

why?

well my old network design had a circular dependancy. i needed my network functioning to use my controller to configure my network from a non-functioning state in order to get to the point where i can use my controller.

long story short.. if my core switch broke i was fucked.

fixed

so i bought a cloud key, sure i could have used a raspberry pi.. it probably also would have been smarter. But this way i get something properly supported by UNIFI..

(also i might get to do a little looting) the kernal indicates an aarch64 arm chip on the cloud key the pi might be able to handle that.. some creative scp might be able to build a poor mans cloud key that has unifi protect support

so, yeah
